Elegance with a Touch of Whimsy

Our clients for this beautiful new home were moving from a California traditional house with the hopes to create a fresh take on eclectic contemporary in Texas. The plan was to incorporate lovely, collected antiques and art, but to add a few sleek, new pieces to provide the desired “edge”. Our strategy for achieving a cohesive look was to create a neutral back-drop, with mostly white walls and gray-washed oak floors, and then to have fun with their fabulous art collection, fabrics, pillows, and interesting wall textures via wallpaper, high-gloss plaster, and tile.

A few favorite selections include unique champagne colored steel entry doors, a stunning natural onyx slab for the Powder vanity, bold Philip Jeffreys Den wallpaper, and a gorgeous silk hand-woven rug in the Living Room. Despite the elegance of the space, it doesn’t take itself too seriously; whimsical touches work their way in amidst the elegant surfaces and expensive antiques. We had fun with colorful accents such as pink, purple, and chartreuse, and enjoyed their furry stuffed goat who found a home by the corner windows...
