Arboretum Kids - Traditional
The natural location for the upstairs bathroom expansion was into the attic, but the peak of the attic was only 8’ high. The challenge was to get sufficient headroom for the bathroom without disturbing the roof line. By duplicating an existing double gable on the house, we managed to maximize head room while blending with the existing architecture. We utilized the full length of the attic by incorporating a homework nook off the bedroom, and added built-in shelves to make use of the outer edges of the sloped ceiling. The slope allows no room for windows, so skylights were added to bring in natural light. Friends say that from the outside, the house looks like it has always been this way. A perfect compliment for a successful remodel!
